Amsterdam is one of the best destination for a long weekend break. You can enjoy the city on foot, by bike, by public transport or on the canals.

Here are the different districts of the capital.

CENTRUM

Le centre-ville se fait assez rapidement à pied. En plus des points d’intérêt tels que “De Nieuwe Kerk”, “Begijnhof”, le Palais Royal, vous pouvez découvrir le Quartier Rouge (attention, ne pas prendre de photos au cœur de ce quartier) et De Waag, un édifice à l’architecture médiévale.

The city centre can be reached quite quickly on foot. In addition to points of interest such as De Nieuwe Kerk, Begijnhof, the Royal Palace, you will find the Red Light District (please do not take photos in the heart of this district) and De Waag, a building with medieval architecture.

CANAUX OUEST ET JORDAAN

Un quartier où on peut se balader mais pour apprécier l’architecture, vous pourrez emprunter un bateau. Le canal du Prince vous offre une vue notamment sur la maison d’Anne Franck et des entrepôts aux volets rouges datant du 17ème siècle.

Pour découvrir de belles boutiques, vous pouvez vous rendre à Negen Staatjes qui regroupe 9 ruelles.

Pas loin, vous verrez le pont Torensluis qui est le plus ancien des ponts d’Amsterdam datant du 17ème siècle.

Dans ce quartier, vous pourrez également voir une église protestante Westerkerk.

CANAUX SUD

C’est également un quartier agréable pour se balader. Vous y trouverez le marché aux fleurs flottant “Bloemenmarkt”, la place Leidseplein assez animés en soirée.

Le Keizersgracht est l’un des plus beaux points des canaux pour voir les ponts illuminés. Et enfin, le Magere Brug, l’un des ponts les plus connus.

QUARTIER DES MUSEES

C’est une quartier plutôt résidentiel et huppé surtout connus pour ses musées tels que le Rijksmuseum et le musée de Van Gogh. Dès le mois de mai, vous pouvez profiter d’une pause paisible au fameux parc Vondelpark.

It is a rather residential and posh area, especially known for its museums such as the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum. From May onwards, you can enjoy a peaceful break in the famous Vondelpark.

DE PIJP

On y trouve l’Albert Cuymarket qui est un marché de 2km. Par la suite, il y a un autre parc sympa pour se poser et faire un pique-nique.

JODENBUURT ET PLANTAGE

Jodenbuurt est l’ancien quartier juif datant du 17ème siècle. On vous invite à flâner pour découvrir ce quartier. Vous trouverez la maison de Rembrandt “Rembradthuis”, le musée historique juif, et le jardin botanique Hortus Botanicus.
